Q: What is Omniback? Why is it called Omniback?
A: Omniback is a combination of backup appliance and professional service that we offer. It is called Omniback because it backs up everything. It backs up files, boot sectors, databases, web-servers, E-mail servers and everything else that is VSS compatible.
More importantly, if your server has a hardware failure, the backup appliance that we install at your premise can act as a failover server so that your business can continue to operate.
In a nutshell, it backs up your servers, but it also backs up your business by acting as a server when disaster happens.
Q: How is Omniback superior to other backup solutions?
A: Omniback is superior to other solutions in several ways:
- With Omniback you save time and IT resources. Once Omniback is installed and configured by us, you and your staff don’t need to do anything to ensure backups are done automatically. There are no backup media to swap regularly. There is no need to schedule backups. There is no need to monitor backups. There is no mundane work to be done.
- With Omniback your down time is reduced to minimum. If your server has a catastrophic failure or if it is stolen, the Omniback appliance that we install at your site, will act as a failover server until your main server is repaired or rebuilt.

Q: What made you create Omniback?
A: Omniback is the culmination of data protection services that we have provided to our clients over the past two decades. We have used almost every kind of backup solution. They all had short-comings.
They all had one or more of these problems: expensive to buy, expensive to operate, labour intensive, required special training, and then there were some that send your data to a cloud somewhere on the Internet.
Most importantly, all of them backed up data but NONE of them provided a robust solution to ensure business continuity when disaster happened.
Omniback is a combination of backup appliance, proprietary software and support service that is built to address all your needs. It automatically backs up your data everyday – and becomes a replacement server in an emergency.
Q: At Omni Systems, what backup system do you use internally?
A: We use Omniback. We wouldn’t sell it if we couldn’t rely on it to ensure our business continuity. We sleep well at night because we know we are well protected against unforeseeable disasters.
Q: Do we need to learn any new skills to use Omniback?
A: Omniback is simple enough to be used by the average office worker. Chances are that no-one in your office needs to learn any new skills to use Omniback.

Business Questions
Q: I am wary of hidden costs. What is the real cost of Omniback?
A: With Omniback there are no hidden costs. You pay a modest installation fee and a reasonable monthly fee. That is it.
Q: If our mission critical servers are down, it may take several hours to repair them. How will you help to minimize our down time?
A: When disaster happens, the Omniback appliance that we install at your site, will act as a failover server until your main server is repaired.
Furthermore, you are not on your own. As part of the professional service that is included in your monthly subscription fee, we will help you get back up and running as quickly as possible. We will reconfigure our backup appliance to emulate your server. There is no extra charge to run your business off our server.
You can continue to run your business with no interruption while your server is repaired. Once your server is operational we will switch things back.
Q: We don't have the time or the technical staff to perform backup administration, will the Omniback be the right solution for us?
A: Once Omniback is set-up by us, you don’t need to do anything to ensure backups are done. There is no backup media to swap, no need to schedule backups, no need to monitor them. There is no mundane work to be done. It frees up your time.
Restoring files requires no training and it can be done by the end-users. Restoring files is as simple as copying files from one folder to another one.
Q: Is there a tax or accounting advantage to using Omniback?
A: When you buy Omniback you are not making any capital expenditures. No assets to depreciate over the years.
You have a low monthly subscription fee that you can expense. That is it.
Q: Backup administration takes resources away from important projects, how can you help us?
A: Once Omniback is set-up by us, you and your staff don’t need to do anything. It frees up your time to spend it on more important projects instead of busywork.
Q: I am concerned that some day disaster will happen to our aging servers, how is your solution superior to others in the market?
A: You can rest assured that when disaster happens, you are not on your own. As part of the professional services that is included in your monthly subscription, we will help you get back up and running as quickly as possible. We will reconfigure our server to emulate your server. There is no extra charge to run your business off our server.

Q: We do business with industry veterans, how long have you been in the IT industry?
A: As a team we have several decades of experience. The average experience in our team is over 20 years. We have worked with businesses of all sizes. We have managed some very sophisticated networks. We have experience with many platforms including MS Windows, Linux, SCO Unix, and other UNIX operating systems etc. We have built and supported firewalls, web-servers, database servers, DNS servers, E-mail servers, file servers, phone systems etc.
It doesn’t matter if you have a simple or a complex network, we have seen it all. You can continue to use other vendors or in-house staff to support your network. While we will be happy to support you if you need our consulting expertise, our focus is your protection and business continuity. We will work with your team to make sure your business continues to run smoothly.
Technical Questions
Q: What is backed up by Omniback?
A: Omniback protects all file, mail or database applications that are VSS-compatible, such as Microsoft Exchange, SQL and Small Business Server. Everything is backed up daily – programs, settings and data – even disk boot sectors. It can also protect workstations or laptops and is scalable to accommodate the amount of storage space you need.
Q: How much time and effort does it take to install and configure Omniback?
A: We install and configure Omniback for you. You have very little to do.
Q: Do I need to monitor that backups are done?
A: You don’t have to monitor backups. We do it for you. It is part of the service that we provide.
Q: Do I need to swap backup media (disks, tapes,…)?
A: No. Images of your server are stored on a backup appliance that we install in your office. These appliances are provisioned with enough storage capacity to meet your backup needs.
We proactively monitor backups and disk usage, if there is a need to increase disk space we will contact you to discuss. All technical work will be done by us.
Q: Can end-users restore the files that they need or is this something that IT personnel should do?
A: Omniback does not require any special training. Restoring files and folders is as simple as copying them from one network drive to another. Therefore, as long as end-users have the permission to restore files, they can do it themselves.
Q: What is this client-replacement mode that you keep referring to?
A: To put it very simply. Suppose that you have some mission-critical servers. We will take nightly backups of these servers. Now, if there is a problem with any of these servers, it may take hours if not days to restore it to working condition. If this happens, we can quickly reconfigure our server to emulate your server so that your files, database, E-mail etc. are still available. This will minimize your down time.
Q: Can Omniback create daily as well as periodic backups?
A: Omniback can be configured to backup your data as frequently as needed and it can store multiple snapshots of your server.
It really is up to you to decide how often you need to backup your server and how long you want to keep them. Needless to say the more snapshots you want to keep you will need more space. Our experts can work with you to determine the optimum configuration to backup your operation. Optimum, of course, means the least expensive option that is sufficient to support your business requirements.
Q: We are a growing company, is Omniback scalable to continue to support the growth in our data?
A: Omniback comes in four tiers to accommodate the needs of businesses of all sizes. You can choose the level of protection that you need at the moment, as your storage need grows, you can upgrade to a higher tier.
If your data grows larger than what our pre-built packages can accommodate, we will be happy to talk to you about a custom solution.
Q: I need to repair some of our servers, desktops or laptops, how can Omniback help me?
A: One of the greatest features of Omniback is that it can run in a client replacement mode. We can configure Omniback to backup the system that you are planning to repair or upgrade. We will then configure our backup appliance to act as if it were your computer. Once your computer is ready, we will switch things back to your computer.
Q: I like the product but our business needs a larger backup capacity than you currently offer in your Enterprise edition, what can you do?
A: If you need more storage or computing power than what is offered by the Enterprise edition of Omniback, we will be happy to talk to you about a custom solution that meets your business needs.
